I have always told people that I believe good things come when you least expect them.
Maria and Chris met while working at the same job. They were both unavailable at the time, but became friends. After some time passed and they were both newly single, they decided to go on their first date. Part of their first date took place in a little bar next to a pizzeria in downtown Port Jefferson, which is the same place we photographed their engagement session!
After a few years of dating, Chris proposed to Maria. It was totally unexpected. He spent weeks planning with the help of one of Maria’s friends. On the day of their proposal, Maria believed she was going to her friend's house to celebrate her birthday with her. She thought it was going to be another casual hang out, but turned out to be one of her most special memories. Her friend selflessly sacrificed her birthday party to watch Maria say yes to the love of her life.
I knew Maria was going to be a fun bride when she told me about her unique vision she had for her engagement session. She wanted to photograph her session in a coffee shop! I am always so excited when my couples think outside the norm and take chances! Luckily I knew the perfect location.
Only a week before Christmas, we were so lucky to have such warm weather during their engagement session. Although we planned for a golden hour sunrise session, mother nature couldn’t bless us with that much luck. I mean she already made it 40 degrees in December, so we didn’t want to ask for too much. Although we battled with the possibility of rain and dark skies for the entire session, Maria and Chris made their engagement session unique and fun! We started on the docks of down town Port Jefferson and ended with a cappuccino, the perfect wake-me-up after rising with the sun, in an intimate coffee shop called Locals.
I could not be more happy to be the person who gets to spend the whole day with them while they exchange their wedding vows.
Congratulations on your engagement Maria and Chris!
