When that is the response I get from a bride, I know it is going to be a great story.
I love learning about all the unique ways my couples fell in love. The details make their story unique and memorable to those they choose to share it with.
Claire and Chris both spent most of their childhood growing up on Shelter Island. If you do not know where Shelter Island is, it is a very small, intimate, everyone knows everyone island between the two forks of Long Island. Think the Last Song, or, any other Nicholas Sparks book.
Claire happened to be out at a bar one night with her friends when an older man looked right at her and asked her if they can take a picture together. Claire thought, that might be a little weird but sure why not. After all Claire was somewhat famous.
It wasn’t until a few seconds later that she realized the man who wanted to take a picture with her, was actually talking to his wife, who was sitting directly behind Claire. After a few good laughs, they continued to talk throughout the rest of the night. The older man had suggested that Claire meet his son. Since they were both single, Claire agreed. Little did she know that Chris’ dad had introduced her to her future husband. I will be sure to get that picture of you and your father-in-law on your wedding night Claire.
After they both graduated college, and become teachers, Chris and Claire took a trip to Belgium. While there, Chris bought tickets for a hot air balloon ride. That was when he surprised Claire with a beautiful engagement ring, while flying over the Belgian hill. Ladies and Gentlemen, Nicholas Sparks just got his next script.
I just love their story, it is so unique!
We photographed their engagement session where their love story began and where it will become a forever love story, Shelter Island.
Although the weather was less than ideal, 45 degrees with 30 mile per hour winds, Chris and Claire kept their spirits high and smiles on their faces for the entire session.
I am so excited to photograph their wedding this fall and to meet the man who started it all.
Congratulations, Chris and Claire.
